Welcome to Davie

If you are lucky enough to have visited the Town of Davie in Florida, you are familiar with its abundance of natural life, rodeos grounds, and Western-styled storefronts. But there is much more to this town than meets the eye.

Davie is officially a town, not a city, making it one of the largest ones in the country. It was developed initially in 1909 and named Zona but was later renamed Davie after developer Robert Parsell Davie helped drain the everglades in the area to build a school in 1916. The fact that Davie was built on drained swampland explains its proximity to the everglades and is part of the reason there is so much natural life to admire.

Davie is a trip back to the old West. For the lovers of rodeo and all things equestrian, the town offers a variety of activities, including Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, which holds many family events throughout the year. So if going to a rodeo and hitting the white sandy beaches of Fort Lauderdale right after sounds like a good time, Davie is the town for you, as those two activities are only a 20-minute car ride apart.

The recent addition of the Guitar Hotel to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in the neighboring city of Hollywood has also attracted more tourists to the town. Although the casino has been around for a long time, its renovation and the addition of The Guitar have added a whole new level of high-end dining, Vegas-style casinos, and luxury shopping to the otherwise laid-back area.

Davie offers its residents a suburban feel with all the comfort and access of a city. Nature walks, bike rides, horseback riding, and fishing are just some activities that can be enjoyed year-round.
